David was one of the founding members of the Roundtable and was president of the California division of the American Planners’ Association from 1979 to 1981. He was a strong proponent of establishing a working legislative program for the Chapter and the hiring of the Chapter lobbyist. David was a good friend to many of us always challenging us to think creatively to move planning forward in solving the issues before us. He held two Master’s degrees: one from Tulane University in Political Science, as well as Urban Planning from the University of Tennessee. He is also co-author of Planning with Complexity: An Introduction to Collaborative Rationality for Public Policy, as well as various articles on city planning published by American Planners’ Association, Planning Theory and Practice, and other urban-planning periodicals.
