Tim Snellings, REHS
Tim Snellings has been with Butte County as the Development Services Director since 2005 and he retired in December 2019. Tim spent a significant amount of his time since arriving at Butte County leading the process of creating Butte County General Plan 2030 and writing a completely new Zoning Ordinance. He is also currently working on the implementation of the County’s adopted Climate Action Plan, developing an updated Adaptation Plan and Resiliency Plan.
As a past president of the California County Planning Directors Association (CCPDA), he led the effort to create the CCPDA Modal Solar Energy Facilities Ordinance and Guidance Document (http://www.ccpda.org/solar). His department worked very hard to create a Utility Scale Solar PV Guidance document and implemented a Sustainable Agricultural Lands Grant.
Tim is also a Commissioner, representing CSAC on the California Statewide Community Development Authority (CSCDA). He is a past president of the California Conference of Directors of Environmental Health (CCDEH) in 2000. He is also a Registered Environmental Health Specialist.
His other previous experience includes the following:

• Nevada County – Community Development Agency Director, Director of Intergovernmental Relations, Director of Environmental Health, Housing Specialist (13 yrs)
• Napa County – Environmental Health Supervisor (Land Use) and Environmental Health Specialist (5 yrs)
Tim received his BA in Environmental Studies with a minor in Chemistry from CSU Sacramento in 1983.
